Identifying Your Design Needs

We offer a wide array of services, including a la carte.  Occasionally, we come across a project in which our client signed up for one service, but as we begin work it becomes clear that they are in need of something different.    Oftentimes we figure this out ahead of time, but to help point you in the right direction, consider the following.

Getting Started

  • Interpretive Groundwork Workshop – a one-day intensive workshop that helps identify the major stories to tell at your site, including an interpretive outline (central theme, subthemes, & storylines), goals & objectives, target audience ID.

  • Exhibit Jumpstart Workshop – a two-day intensive focus workshop that help identify the major stories to tell at your site, including a central theme with subthemes.  We also recommended exhibit concepts accompanied with sketches, and provide you with two full-color renderings with descriptive narratives.  This workshop is a great tool for fundraising.

Planning

  • Interpretive Plans – we have Certified Interpretive Planners on staff that lead the planning process.  We address the “5M’s” – Management, Markets, Mechanics, Media, and Messages in each plan.  Interpretive plans are a great way to begin your project if you have not yet identified core audiences, subthemes and storylines, and inventoried your resources.  They also serve as a way to get buy-in from your team and those affiliated with the facility. These serve as a backbone for exhibits, whether you’re taking a phased approach, or building all at once.  We can customize the planning process to meet your needs too – an Interpretive Plan, for instance, can become an Interpretive Sign Plan.

  • Community Experience Plans –  a Community Experience Plan is a blueprint for enhancing a community’s brand by revealing the community’s unique story and recommending methods to communicate that story to visitors as well as residents. Taylor Studios works with the community to uncover the stories that define a community’s essence. Revealed in these stories are the spirit, values, and character that compose a community’s authentic identity. Once a community’s identity is uncovered, the Community Experience Plan develops and recommends ways to relate this identity to those who visit the community and those who live in the community.

Exhibit & Graphic Design

  • Graphic Design – we are happy to provide a variety of graphic design services, whether they interpretive or way finding. We can come up with fresh graphic concepts, or help with final graphic design and production-ready artwork. We are also glad to help with all sorts of collateral materials – including, but not limited to, logo development, advertising materials, and brochures.

  • Exhibit Design – whether you’re in need of a few kiosks, dioramas, a sculpture, or a full fledged project, our exhibit designers work in tangent with graphic designers and interpretive planners to tell your story at any size budget.  From thumbnail sketches, to renderings, to CAD plates, we offer a turnkey service.

  • Final Design – have a conceptual design that you’re ready to build?  We can flesh out the details and create shop-ready drawings.

Not sure which best suits you?  Need something more custom? We’re happy to help, give us a call.
