Used my Fear (Graphic Designer turned Sculptor)

Fifteen years ago I was hired by Taylor Studios as a graphic designer. I was on the job two weeks when Joe Taylor approached me about working on a 14′ bass sculpture. He asked if I could sculpt and said he remembered from my interview that I could use an airbrush. I said yes and the next day I was out in the shop working on the large sculpture.
I was fearful that I would mess up or wouldn’t paint well enough to meet Taylor-quality. I used that fear to push myself and to focus on doing the best I could rather than saying no and staying behind a computer in my comfort zone.
The experience I had working on that sculpture was one I will never forget; it captured my imagination. I was hooked and would be forever grateful to Joe and Betty for trusting me on something so big…literally.
Don’t let fear stop you from experiencing new things or stop you from moving forward. Use it rather than hide behind it.
Tell me about a time you used your fear in the comments below.
