Marshall Gold Discovery State Park -
Before the Rush Exhibit

Taylor Studios designed, built, and installed a new exhibit to complement existing exhibitry at the Marshall Gold Discovery Center. This exhibit featured a realistic diorama representing springtime terrain of the Coloma Valley with scenes of Sierra Foothill Indians' daily life. A realistic ground form was enhanced by a real running waterfall, beautifully fabricated trees and native plants, a cedar house and acorn granary, and several life-cast figures in action.

The entire diorama served as a backdrop for an object theater. Documentary clips were projected onto the setting, complete with music and audio. The synchronization of 2D and 3D elements created a deep and engaging experience.

One challenge in this project was to design a creative and modern exhibit while maintaining the look and feel of the existing exhibitry. Taylor Studios used an innovative audiovisual approach while creating timeless murals and a diorama which blended seamlessly with the other displays.
