Case Study: Stone Mountain Memorial Association Confederate Hall

Taylor Studios designed and built the exhibits for the Stone Mountain Learning Center. The learning center explores the geological and ecological characteristics of the mountain. It serves as a primer for visitors who plan to climb the mountain. The client’s goal was to inform the visitor about how the mountain was formed.
The target audience for the exhibit is fifth and sixth grade schoolchildren from the surrounding Atlanta communities. The interpretive content is based on the Georgia State Learning Standards.

The exhibits, completely designed and built by Taylor Studios include exhibit areas divided into three main areas: the formation of the mountain, the mountain as a landform, and the ecology of the mountain. Highlighting these areas is an audiovisual theater that visitors descend into, an interactive tectonic plates area, a gigantic interactive hourglass that illustrates time’s effect on the mountain, a rock cycle computer interactive, a diorama of the mountain’s landscape at the top, an oversized crystal area, and a bright colorful timeline with related artifacts.
