a multi-million dollar restoration. Taylor Studios is building
and installing the groundform to complete the scene. See
in progress photos of the ground form below and learn
more about the restoration project at Newsweek and USA
Today.
Heartland Highways
On February 22 and 24, Taylor Studios,
along with The Ford County Museum in Paxton, IL was featured
on Heartland
Highways on WEIU-TV. The show featured what is new at
Taylor Studios as well as the exhibits designed and fabricated
by Taylor Studios for the Ford County Museum. The program
is still available online at www.weiu.net.
Kansas City, MO
The 2007 SEGD Honor Award
was recently presented to the National World War I Museum
in Kansas City, MO. Taylor Studios had the privilege
of fabricating the scenic elements and life cast figures
for this project. SEGD stated that “throughout
the exhibit, encounters with immersive environments are
structured around how the conflict left indelible marks
on the earth: the earthen field dotted with poppies,
an 80-ft. trench scratched into the earth, a scarred
plain of “No Man's Land,” and a huge bomb crater
like those that pockmarked the Western Front.” These
environments were all created by Taylor Studios and can
be seen in the “Portfolio – Environments” section
of the TSI website.
Orland
Park. IL
Taylor Studios created a statue of former Illinois
Senator John Humphrey for his hometown of Orland Park.
The statue is part of Orland Park's Art in the Park program
and is featured in a PDF available for download here:
Coloma, CA
Taylor Studios is providing
the interpretive exhibit design, fabrication and installation
of a diorama with
audiovisual
elements for the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic
Park in Coloma, CA. The goal of the diorama is to increase
the visitors’ understanding of the stories of the
Native Americans who lived in the Sierra foothills prior
to the discovery of gold. The current scope of work is
a continuation of the first phase of the project that included
a diorama depicting the moment gold was discovered at the
site by the Euro Americans.
Fairfax, VA
Taylor Studios is designing,
fabricating, and installing interpretive exhibits at Riverbend
Park in Fairfax County.
The current exhibits will be replaced with exhibits that
promote the ecological significance of the park as part
of the Potomac Gorge, stimulate an appreciation for the
significance of the natural and cultural resources, promote
visitor safety, and endorse the park’s low impact
recreational opportunities. Part of the 1100 square foot
space will be remodeled to resemble historical photographs.
Aquariums, a discovery area, and a reference library are
to be incorporated into the space.
Tulsa, OK
The Mary K. Oxley Nature Center
Association chose Taylor Studios to provide design, fabrication,
and installation
services for their Shared Spaces & New Found Places
exhibit. The scope includes audio-visual interactive elements,
a beehive, woodpecker tree, and various displays and dioramas.
The project is scheduled to be completed in Summer 2008.
Marquette, MI
Taylor Studios has been selected
to complete the interpretative design for Marquette County
History Museum in Marquette,
MI. Once the plan for the 7,311 sq. ft. exhibit space is
approved, TSI will begin fabricating elements that will
include narrative
and interactive interpretive exhibits as well as audiovisual
elements. The goal is to help define, focus, clarify, and
create a meaningful and engaging visitor experience.

Taylor Studios Celebrates 17 Years
Designing and Fabricating
Exhibits
and Finds a New Home
This year marks Taylor Studios’ 17th birthday. In 1991, founders Betty
Brennan and Joe Taylor established a market in the paleontology and archaeology
fields by fabricating museum quality artifacts and fossils. Their molding and
casting expertise and eye for historical accuracy quickly solidified their reputation
for high quality within the field. What started because of an interest and appreciation
for nature combined with a passion for quality and attention to detail has developed
into a thriving business.
Today, Taylor Studios is recognized throughout the industry as a leader in exhibit
design and fabrication. Our client list encompasses a diverse array of projects
including visitor centers, zoos, science centers, nature centers, and museums.
We believe in excellent customer service and back our fabricated products with
a 5-year warranty as a testament to our exceptional quality and attention to
detail. In the years to come, we look forward to building new relationships and
creating innovative exhibits.
In 2008, Taylor Studios is not only celebrating 17 years in the exhibit design
and fabrication industry, but also the move to a new facility. The 40,000 square
feet of the building that Taylor Studios will occupy will give us ample space
to fabricate our upcoming projects. Our new location at 2040 North Lon Drive
is only a mile from our current facility. While we complete the renovations of
the new building, however, it is business as usual at 1320 Harmon Drive. Our
commitment to employees and customers remains the same and we strive to create
products and experiences that inspire people.
