It’s that time of year when we tend to reflect and look forward.  Here are some of the highlights of 2013 I thought might interest you.

Awesome Installations

I encourage you to put these on your to visit list.

Wickiup Hill Learning Center

This immersive children’s gallery is based on a children’s picture book.  It takes visitors on a colorful adventure of life on the river through time.  One scene is an enlarged larger than life version of the river environment where a frog is the size of a pony. We designed, built, and installed this project. Be sure to watch the In the Shop video from this project.

Cleveland Metroparks Watershed-Stewardship Center

Of course, this design is all about water.  It teaches how a healthy watershed supports a healthy community.  A centerpiece exhibit is a large dimensional topographical map of the West Creek watershed.  It uses state-of the-art technology with overhead projection so the visitor can interact with the watershed.

The Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning State Park

Wow!  The Northwest Region of PA, the PA Wilds Region, is a beautiful part of the country.  The scenery and wildlife, including Elk is spectacular.  Our exhibits focus on wildlife watching, human history in the valley and modern management of the park.  Be sure to watch this In the Shop video, too.

USS Midway Museum

We fabricated and installed more awesome figures

Busey Woods Gateway Trail

We installed a very cool sculptural interpretive panel as the gateway to the trail.

Peoria Riverfront Museum

We installed a model of Jupiter at the airport.

North Dakota Heritage Center

We installed two of the three galleries for this project.  They tell the story of North Dakota history from the geologic past of 500 million years ago through the present day.

Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge

The Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge is world-renowned for its amazing opportunities to view and photograph wildlife. The design of these exhibits creates multiple levels of focus—from the grand scene to the unique details of the refuge. This was a design-build project.

Five other notable Taylor Studios happenings this year:

  1. We had four marriages among our staff this year!

  2. There were three promotions. Spencer Ely was promoted to lead our carpentry shop, Ben Daniels moved from the shop into design to oversee our construction drawings, and Jackie Sturm was promoted to Project Manager.

  3. Baldwin Asylum was a hit in its first year!

  4. We started interior design on our game room.

  5. We are 95% complete with our donation of the Community Experience Plan to the City of Rantoul.
