Transformation trends continue in many forms when talking about our history wall project at Clark-Lindsey Retirement Village. This organization is transforming the view on living in a retirement community. Our older generation can get the care and attention they much need with a feeling of comfort and home-like accommodations.

The graphics were acrylic panels on stand-offs. Over several decades, Clark-Lindsey Retirement Village has transformed and grown. In a project that Taylor Studios worked on with Clark-Lindsey Retirement Village, we helped capture their transformation in a history wall, telling their story to residents, staff, and families.

The president and CEO, Deb Reardanz, has shared some of her experience with how the project started and how Taylor Studios assisted with the process.

What problem did you have before you decided to hire Taylor Studios?

Our organization’s decades of rich history was stored away in the office basement in banker boxes where very few people knew where to find it and even fewer people knew what to look for. As we approached the end of a major repositioning of the campus and looked ahead to our upcoming 40th anniversary, we had a desire to celebrate our past and to share the story of how we got to where we are today.

Vickie Wilson, Assistant to the President. How did Taylor Studios help with that problem?

Taylor Studio approached this project in a collaborative way. They facilitated meaningful and diverse conversation among a variety of stakeholders and were able to identify themes of the organization’s overall story that resonated among all of us. From there, they matched the oral stories with the tangible artifacts in a way that brought the story alive. The display conveys the spirit of this organization as it was in its early years and throughout the generations since.

Our history wall is comprised of acrylic panels on stand-offs. It features history images of the founders, all the way through present day residents.

The final product! How would you describe the transformation of your site?

The display was beautifully designed and is considered a piece of art outside our library. The preservation of history fits well with the theme of continued learning that the library represents. It reminds community members who live and work at there about our innovative beginnings. And it gives visitors a glimpse of what continues to make our organization a leader in the community. The way that it was designed allows for updates to ensure continued relevancy. It is a place that reminds us to stop and tell our story, and it guides us in its telling.
